Financial Management Training , Mthunzini Country Inn ,
24 – 26 February
Facilitator : Mr Thulani Makhanya
Training
22 delegates from 22 NGOs from the Zululand area attended the 3- day Financial Management training .
It was clear from the workshop expectations that the delegates wanted to learn almost everything about managing finances , they enlisted budgets ; cash flow management ; handling petty cash amongst other things they wanted to know by the end of the workshop.
It should be noted that the training was also beneficial at practitioners own personal lives. Some topics covered were even the eye opener and delegates themselves expressed gratitude for the training. Different templates were shared to make it simpler for participants to develop case studies and do financial related exercises. NDA had provided training manuals that were easy and simple to understand.
Some members of NGOs said it would be more beneficial if the training was received after they were funded . They indicated that they barely have anything (if any) to manage.
Mentorship
All mentored 10 NGOs showed a huge interest judging from their cooperation and turnout during the mentorship. Most concerns were about misunderstanding between NGOs and DSD financial management requirements and processes. Other organisations are evidently in a dire conditions that urgently require funding. They don’t have resources whatsoever just the passion for the community.
