Pre – Finance Training

Phendula was  selected by SEDA to run the Pre-Finance workshop for Uthungulu Municipality for 3 days at Bergville for 26 SMMEs.

SEDA KZN had trained Phendula Training and Consulting staff around February 2013 to run Pre-Finance workshops. The training focuses on SMMEs who want to borrow funds for starting or even run their businesses. It is aimed at those who are already operating but have identified the need to be financed .

The main outcome for the workshop is that they should be able to  draft , develop , submit and present their Business Plans to financial institutions. SEDA had provided training manuals with templates of a Business Plan. Ukhahlamba Local Municipality also provided another template for delegates.

Ukhahlamba Local Municipality was represented by an official who attended the whole 3 days. Uthukela DEDT LED Manager , Thulani Mbongwa visited the SMMEs and emphasized to the delegates the importance of ability for enterprises to write their own business plans.

It should be noted that most attendees were at the pre-start  level and needed more training on Entrepreneurship ; Feasibility and Viability. This created delays for SMMEs who had already started and just wanted to learn how to develop their business plans. Also, the content of the workshop is too vast to complete in 3 days , at least 5 days would cover most part. We suggest that this workshop would better achieve results if it is broken down into phases.
