Phendula was founded by Mr Thulani and Mrs. Nomthandazo Makhanya in 2004. The company was established after both Thulani and Nomthandazo identified the need, especially in peri-urban and rural areas in KwaZulu Natal, for an entity that will transfer business skills and information to individuals and SMME’s, thus giving birth to Phendula Training and Consulting.

Whilst garnering experience in the Business Consulting and Skills Development & Training sphere, the company noted the gaps that existed in other spheres of business. This has then led to the expansion of current services and products of the company.

Being constantly innovative and focusing largely on meeting the needs of its clients, Phendula stands today as a multi-faceted company. The company has now five major divisions, which includes but not limited to:

Thulani Makhanya who is also the Managing Member has an extensive background in Business Development having worked for over five years as a Business Advisor for SEDA, focusing mainly on Small Business Development, Business Advisory and Needs Analysis. Operations Manager, Nomthandazo Makhanya has more than a decade of experience in Retail Management with skills in Sales & Marketing, Human Resource Management, Procurement, Logistics as well as Customer Service Excellence, among others.

To establish Phendula as a leader in Customer Satisfaction, ensuring a sustainable and profitable enterprise. Through innovation and forward-thinking of both Management and Employees, Phendula envisions positive contributions in the local community (as well as nationally) by establishing strong relations with Customers, Stakeholders and Suppliers.

To uphold the God’s values of love, hope and faith in everyday practices as well as encourage the development of Employees to achieve their set goals, along with recognition and highlighting special skills. Focusing largely on Customer Satisfaction, ours is to initiate new relationships with clients, whilst retaining existing clients by meeting and exceeding their expectations through a high quality of service delivery.
